1. RubíFarm specializes in the production of Flor de Jamaica:
The Flor de Jamaica, also known as Hibiscus, is a medicinal plant that is characterized by being rich in anthocyanins, a compound that gives it its characteristic wine color and that in turn provides it with great ANTIOXIDANT power. Additionally, it is also rich in flavonoids, vitamin C and organic acids, which have various health benefits, such as helping to control blood pressure and promote weight loss. All this makes it a Super Food!
2. Inclusion:
More than half of the world's food production is carried out by women, however, less than 5% own the land they produce. This fact increases their situation of vulnerability and increases inequality.
María accepts the challenge of inclusion, empowering herself as the owner of her land and developing her farm together with the active forces of her family nucleus.
3. Peasant Family Economy:
Biolley is a remote area full of rich Biodiversity. However, it offers few job opportunities and therefore development for its inhabitants.
María leads her family group, managing to include the bulk of her active forces, in the productive processes, uniting her family and developing an activity that manages to increase her income and the distribution of the same within its members, in this way she manages to improve her quality of life, promoting their human, economic and social growth, growth that will also be reflected in their community.
3. Small scale agriculture:
Our Farm is designed by Alejandro Montero, as a Bio-integrated system of low-scale production, that is, with biointensive techniques, permaculture and concentrated use of space, rational use of water, taking advantage of the prevailing high-altitude forest rain in the zone.
In this way, our Flor de Jamaica grows with the power and freshness of the Buffer Zone of La Amistad International Park, one of the areas with the greatest biodiversity in Costa Rica and the World... Yes... the World!
